The mangalsutra is a traditional symbol of marriage, worn across South Asian cultures and recognised by its black beads. It has long been part of Rolance's family, and at Sutraa we make it for everyday wear, so it belongs in ordinary days rather than only ceremony.

Sutraa was started by a married couple, Rolance and Brenna, after they could not find a mangalsutra made for everyday life. Every piece is designed by them, in 18k solid gold with lab-grown diamonds, and built to be worn on ordinary days rather than kept for ceremony. The couple behind it, and the life it is made for, are what set it apart.

Yes. Every piece is made to be worn every day, through work, milestones and ordinary mornings alike. We include care guidance with each piece to help it stay beautiful over years of wear.

Each piece is made to order, so production takes around 5 to 6 weeks. Once your piece is ready and dispatched, you will receive tracking, and delivery usually takes a few business days from there.

We believe meaningful jewellery is worth the wait, and we’re committed to keeping you updated throughout the process.

Nothing is mass-produced. Each piece is created for you once you order, which is what lets us keep the quality high and the waste low. Making a piece takes around 5 to 6 weeks, and we will keep you updated along the way.

We currently ship within Australia and to New Zealand. We hope to reach more countries before long.

Once your piece is dispatched, we will email you tracking details so you can follow it to your door.

Because each piece is made to order, please contact us as soon as you can. Before your piece enters production, about one business day after ordering, we can cancel and refund you in full. Once it is in production, changes may no longer be possible, and our returns page explains your options from there.

Every piece is made in 18k solid gold with lab-grown diamonds. Specific details, including carat and metal options, are on each product page.

With everyday care, your piece is made to hold its beauty. Solid 18k gold is durable, and we suggest avoiding prolonged contact with water, perfume, lotion and harsh chemicals, and storing it somewhere dry when you are not wearing it.

Store it somewhere cool and dry, away from water, perfume, lotion and household chemicals, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth when it needs it. Putting your jewellery on last, after makeup and fragrance, helps it stay its best.

If you change your mind before your piece enters production, we refund you in full. Once it is in production, we offer an exchange or store credit rather than a cash refund, since the piece has been made for you. Anything faulty or not as described is always put right at our cost. Yes. Your first exchange is on us, whether you would like a different size, metal or design. Once a piece is in production we are unable to offer a cash refund for a change of mind, but an exchange or store credit is available within 14 days of delivery.

We stand behind how our pieces are made. If you believe your piece has a manufacturing fault, contact us and we will look after it. This sits alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which always apply.

This is rare, but if it happens, contact us as soon as you can, ideally within 48 hours, with photos of the piece and the packaging. We will arrange a repair, replacement or refund straight away.
